Kettlebell training Bristol

My name is Peter Luffman, I am a personal trainer, HKC kettlebell coach, nutrition enthusiast and owner of Bristol Kettlebell club ltd.

I was like most kids when I left school, wasn’t to sure what I wanted to do, September was approaching fast and I had to make a decision, back to school or get a job. The decision was made for me (by my Dad) and I enrolled on an apprenticeship to become an auto electrician. After 6 years in the motor trade I had had enough, my obsession with weight training was taking over and my results in the gym were the only thing I cared about. My working life had become a means to an end, if I wasn’t in the gym you would mostly find me with my head in a book or magazine learning all I could to maximise my results, how to build muscle, how to eat correctly and how to get strong and fit. As my passion grew my thoughts naturally turned to a career in the fitness industry but it wasn’t until 2008 when the recession kicked in, the company I worked for at the time announced redundancy, and after some careful consideration I decided to leave and embark on a career in the fitness industry.

My first tutor was Cain Leathem a well respected name in bodybuilding circles and somewhat of a guru, Cain helps athletes all over the world get into contest shape and was a huge source of inspiration for me. Through Cain’s certification programme I gained a diploma from NABBA as a personal trainer. In Feb 2009 and within 4 weeks from qualifying I had a self employed position in a large gym in Bristol working a personal trainer. It was there that I was introduced to kettlebells through another personal trainer. I was intrigued on first sight of them and needed to know more right away, and therein started another obsession. Looking into the world of kettlebells was fascinating, how could one simple device give so much and be used in so many different ways? I was hooked! I bought my own kettlebells, books, DVDs and started using them and learning all I could. I attended the London kettlebell academy certification and started using them with my clients and achieved some phenomenal results.  Eventually my searching led me to Dragon door and Pavel.

Dragon Door and Pavel launched the modern kettlebell revolution in 2001 — with the first-ever kettlebell certification program, the RKC. The RKC system remains the undisputed world leader in kettlebell instruction. The entry-level HKC instructor program gives a crash course in the fundamentals of HardStyle kettlebell training.

On the 15th May 2011 I attended and passed the HKC instructor programme and later this year will attend the RKC. I am also first aid certified and CRB checked.

Obviously exercise and nutrition go hand in hand and this is an area that I am hugely interested in, not only for myself but for my one to one clients and kettlebell club members. Therefore I am currently studying the PN certification by John Berardi Phd.
